Cape Cod Center for Women, Inc.

January 26, 2011

Dear Robin & Tony,

On behalf of the Cape Cod Center for Women Board of Directors, volunteers, residents and staff, we wish to thank you for your generous donation of $ 5,000.00.

Your recent donation is truly a blessing at this time of year in particular. This money will help in so many areas for our families who are staying at the shelter, as well as families that will begin to transition out of the shelter.

This year in particular we have seen an increase in women and their children seeking shelter. We are seeing that with the state of the present economy it has stressed families living with domestic violence even more than usual. Women, who felt they could possibly leave before because they were financially independent in having their own job and source of income, are now finding themselves further financially strapped if they are on unemployment.

Because housing for low to moderate income families is limited in our area it is requiring more time and CCCW staff hours to help secure housing for our families. One of the many ways your generous donation is in helping us to support staffing hours lost in recent budget cuts. These hours are greatly needed to work with the families in preparing them for available two-year transitional living program interviews. With limited slots available in the transitional housing system it is imperative that women are prepared, confident and have the ability to express themselves adequately to be a considered applicant for the long term transitional housing programs.

We thank you so much for making difference in the lives of the women and children that come to us for assistance.

Because of your generosity we are able to continue our work in supporting families who are working to live their lives free from domestic violence.

With Kindest Regards,
Mary Starr
Executive Director
